Malik disfavors bar on dual nationals


WASHINGTON: Federal Interior Minister Rahman Malik has said that the allied political parties were in agreement that there should be no bar on dual nationals to become senator or member parliament, the issue would be raised in Senate soon.
Talking to media at Pakistan Embassy here, Rahman Malik said that the dual nationals should not have the right to become president, prime minister, hold key offices in the ministries of defence and foreign affairs, however, they should get the right to become member national assembly and parliament.
He welcomed the bold statement of MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain on dual nationality issue and said that PPP, ML-Q and MQM were in agreement in this regard, while ANP has also hinted to support. He said that ML-N should also joint hand with the government on this matter.
