ISLAMABAD: Baloch leader, Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Saturday said the Army's job is to protect the nation from internal and external threat and not to rule the country.
"Benazir Bhutto opposed the army operation in Balochista and declared Nawab Akbar Bugti a martyr and but her party after coming into power gave a farewell guard of honour to Pervez Musharraf. Independent judiciary is also not being tolerated," he regretted during his meeting with Amir Jamat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan here at Balochistan House.
Munawar Hassan, on the occasion, said Baloch people were patriots in the past and they still are even today. The issue of missing persons is on top of the list, he said.
Earlier, addressing a program at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Akhtar Mengal said everyone knows what the general's did to the Constitution. "Was Pervez Musharraf held accountable for what he did?" he asked.
He said the actual leaders of Balochistan were killed in the past and are still being wiped out.
"I am not saying that the generals be hanged but they should at least be brought before the court," he demanded.
He said President had sought forgiveness of Baloch people but 'is it going to resolve the province's problems?'
